No Strings Theatre Of Disability’s My Stories Matter trilogy represents a revolutionary achievement in disability arts, blending fact and fiction through innovative filmmaking that has captured international attention.

Created as a fictional documentary in the distinctive arthouse style of Swedish director Roy Andersson, the films provide an extraordinary platform for our performers to shine on the big screen.

The First Film – My Stories Matter premiered at Mercury Cinema in February 2024, launching what Artistic Director Paulo Castro describes as “an absolute triumph for No Strings.” The production has since screened globally, including at the Perth Revelation International Film Festival, with successful screenings in Portugal and Germany.

My Stories Matter – Reloaded: International Recognition
The second instalment, My Stories Matter – Reloaded, premiered to critical acclaim at the end of 2024. Created in collaboration with film director Paulo Castro, this arthouse production continues to draw inspiration from Roy Andersson’s distinctive visual style while showcasing the professional talents of performers living with disability on the world stage.

The final instalment in the trilogy, My Stories Matter – Grand Finale, premiered at the end of 2025, on 3rd December – International Day of People with Disability.

All three films have been scheduled for more screenings in 2026 including:

  • May 2026 – Linz, Austria
  • June 2026 – Teatro do Bolhao, Porto – Portugal
  • June 2026 – Teatro Vila Real – Portugal
  • December 2026 – Federation Square, Melbourne

This trilogy marks another groundbreaking first for South Australia’s premier disability theatre company, expanding our artistic practice into innovative filmmaking that resonates with international audiences. The project exemplifies No Strings’ commitment to creating fearless, limitless, boundless art that challenges perceptions and celebrates the unique voices of performers living with disability.
