The Gathering 2017

The Gathering – Tarndanyangga presents the story of Tarndanyangga, the place of the Big Red Kangaroo, a sacred site for the Kaurna people where communities historically came together. This production honours the significance of the land while exploring the power of connection, culture, and storytelling.

This project was a collaboration between Kura Yerlo, No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability, and the participants of Tracking Culture, bringing together an ensemble of remarkable artists representing diverse Aboriginal nations:

The creative team included Stephen Goldsmith (Kaurna) and Jamie Goldsmith (Kaurna) as cultural consultants, Gina Rings & Alexis West as writers/co-writers, Jermaine Hampton & Mitre Khammash as creative facilitators, and Alirio Zavarce as Artistic Director (NSA). The ensemble was supported by a dedicated team of facilitators and assistants, ensuring a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive creative process.

Through performance, storytelling, and movement, The Gathering – Tarndanyangga celebrates Indigenous heritage, disability-led artistic practice, and the transformative power of collective creativity. Audiences are invited to experience a profound connection to Country, culture, and community.
