Secretary – Lesley Reed

Lesley has had an extremely diverse life, including, in her early career path, as a nurse and nurse educator, working at the Royal Adelaide Hospital  and Repatriation General Hospital in South Australia, as well as The Austin in Melbourne.

A career change saw Lesley back in Adelaide and moving into advertising and newspapers, with senior roles including Deputy Advertising Manager Sunday Mail, Deputy Classified Director at The Advertiser and Sunday Mail and later, Manager Strategic Development for The Advertiser and Sunday Mail. During this time, she completed a Diploma in Management Practices at the Australian Institute of Management. She was very involved in change management and strategic planning within the Adelaide News business, developing new newspaper opportunities, and was also part of a mentoring team for a Young Business Leaders Awards program.

For many decades Lesley has been active in community theatre, both in acting and now directing.  She also acts professionally in both commercial work such as TV ads and voiceovers,  government projects, film, as well as medical improvisation in paediatric mental health ‘surrogate patient’ acting and other university-based medical improvisation.

For several years until recently Lesley led a team of Theatre critics for Stage Whispers magazine and website and was the SA Correspondent for that company, writing many stories for publication in the magazine and online. Lesley has also been a children’s book reviewer and has had several of her own stories published, including a children’s fantasy adventure novel.

Lesley joined the No Strings Attached Board because she loves all aspects of performance and theatre and believes everyone who loves it as she does should have the opportunity to truly be part of it. Lesley was disabled for a period as a child, having suffered polio, and so working towards full lives for the disabled is close to her heart. She believes the opportunities No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability gives disabled artists to develop and excel are exciting and groundbreaking and very much needed in society.
